Endangered Glaciers: Alaska, British Columbia and the Yukon.

Our most popular and quickly sold out trip.

Once-in-a-lifetime photographic trip to the endangered glaciers of Alaska, British Columbia and the Yukon.

Your trip begins in Seattle where two privately-chartered turboprop Otter floatplanes will provide transport through the Inside Passage to Ketchikan. There, you’ll travel by helicopter to (and land on) the first series of glaciers in the Juneau Icefield, eventually landing in Juneau. Next, you'll again travel by private chartered floatplane, landing in the Taku Inlet for lunch at the historic Taku Lodge, followed by several flyovers of the Norris, Taku, Hole-in–the-Wall, Twin and Tulsequah glaciers at "magic hour" before returning to Juneau.  The following day, we’ll move on to Anchorage, where we'll spend an afternoon and evening touring glaciers in Prince William Sound, with scientists from NOAA, USGS, and WildAid answering your questions. After that, we’ll board two chartered Coastal Tours helicopters for landings on three more glaciers.

After the coastal glaciers of Alaska, K2 Aviation will take us into the interior for a day spent flying over Mount McKinley and Denali, before landing near Wellesley Lake in the Canadian Yukon.

Remember, flying on small aircraft in Alaska can be challenging for some. Helicopters also have weight restrictions, so pack light and bring only the equipment that you can carry in a large day pack. Standard-sized tripods are recommended and can be stowed on the aircraft; if you weigh more 250lbs or would like to bring any large or heavy equipment, contact me for further details as small aircraft are limited in payload at altitude.

Even in summer, most locations will be quite cold, so basic gear including boots, jacket, and proper equipment bags will be a necessity. Quality winter clothing from companies such as Patagonia, North Face and Columbia are recommended.
